There’s nothing fun about it, I think it’s because they just seem so fake.

It’s like the salesperson is just looking to make a quick commission and they could care less about whether or not making the purchase the right decision for you.

My husband has been noticing that in many government facilities (some that he works around)that offer recycling services have stopped accepting paper, cardboard, plastics, period.

Plastics and cardboard recycling have been seized.

Can you imagine what it costs to recycle this material? I was curious about the whole process, so I looked it up on Wikipedia.

The process is pretty detailed I couldn’t even imagine how much I would have to type.

There are lots of sorting and cleaning and all kinds of chemicals that go into the whole process.

There is recycling paper there’s plastic and there are also “criticisms”.

The question is, are recycling services counter productive to the “environmentalists” or are they doing the job, and really saving energy.

I came across an article on criticisms on recycling.  It was right along the lines of what my husband and I were discussing.

If it takes so much energy to recycle whats the whole deal about “saving energy”.  I am definitely not an expert or anything like that, but I am truly curious and I wonder if anyone is as curious about the whole idea as well.

Our AC unit is, well not working   So I am here to share with you some more energy saving tips.

1. Turn off your AC unit and enjoy the breeze.
2. If you don’t have a ceiling fan in your room, it is a great investment.  They are fairly inexpensive and pretty simple to install.  If you are in one place you can cool yourself down rather quickly.
3. Unless you absolutely have to wash your clothes in hot water, or even warm just use cold water.  It will do just as good of a job.
4. I don’t ever do this, but some people may use the dishwasher to heat up their dishes.  If you don’t need to, you can save quite an amount of money if you just don’t do it.
5. If you have the “energy” to do this, you might think about cooking an extra dish or even make two or three meals at a time.  You will save time and energy.

Making sure that your AC unit is the right size for the room that you are wanting to cool is very important in saving a few bucks.

Cooling unused areas is one way to use more energy. So…. make sure you close doors and registers to save on that energy bill.

If you are really desperate you can use an old technique. Open the windows and put up wet bed sheets in your windows. It works and you can positively save money.

Here is something you may not know. Its fairly inexpensive and its pretty easy to install. Install a low-flow aerator or flow restrictor on an existing shower head and you’ll use less water even though it seems like more. You can also purchase one at your closest walmart or target.

Today I have some great tips for those of you that love to work with tools.

“10 of the best tips for mens tools”

Now if you are a woman and you love to work with tools this is for you too.:)

1. If you ever have trouble with your tools rusting using several mothballs in a toolbox will actually absorb moisture and prevent the tools from rusting.
2. You can also use a pail of dry, clean sand as a storage place for some of your smaller tools.  This technique will slow down the rusting process.
3. If you keep a piece of charcoal in your toolbox you will absorb the moisture and prevent rusting as well.
4. When dealing with oil and transferring from one bottle to another, if you have a cone shaped paper cup, you can improvise a funnel by cutting the tip off of your paper cup. Pretty sweet!
5. If the handle of your hammer is loose, you can tighten it up by soaking it in engine oil for a few hours.  What happens is the oil swells the wood, making it “like new” again.
6. When you are using a yardstick for marking or cutting, if you coat the bottom side of the yardstick with soap, the soap will keep the stick in place.
7. To get a better grip on your favorite screw driver(is there such a thing:)), force a piece of garden hose over the handle of the screwdriver.  You will also have fewer blisters guaranteed
8. When you are beginning to saw, to avoid plywood from splitting, put a strip of cellophane tape at the exact point where you plan to start sawing.  This also works great if you are cutting counter tops.
9. If you are not so good at drawing an accurate line on wood, the best solution for that is to use a knife rather than a pencil
10. Last but not least, if you are going to drill through metal or hard wood, first place a small piece of masking tape on the spot and then start drilling.  The result of this action:it will keep your drill from slipping.
